What is a factorial?

A factorial is just a math shortcut for figurin' out how many ways you can arrange things! See that FOUR followed by an exclamation point? That's the Factorial Symbol, and it's basically a math command that says, 'Hey, multiply this number by every whole number below it!' This starts what I call The Countdown, where you multiply FOUR times THREE, times TWO, times ONE. Think of it like this: if you have a Starting Set of four toys—a car, a robot, a bear, and an alien—you have FOUR choices for which one goes first. But once you pick the alien, you have Shrinking Options; now there are only THREE toys left for the second spot, then TWO, then just ONE lonely toy at the end. When you multiply those choices together, you get twenty-four Total Permutations, which is just a fancy way of sayin' twenty-four unique ways to line 'em up! It gets wild fast, though.
