What is a neuron?

Think of a neuron as a tiny, livin' information station that sends messages throughout your whole body! First, we have these branch-like arms called DENDRITES. They act like antennas, catchin' incoming chemical signals from other neurons so the cell knows what's happenin'. All that data flows into the CELL BODY, which is the brain of the operation. It processes the info and decides if the message is important enough to send along. If it gets the green light, an electric pulse zips down the AXON. This is a long, thin wire that carries the signal away from the cell body. To make sure that pulse moves LIGHTNING FAST, the axon is wrapped in the MYELIN SHEATH. It’s like the insulation on a power cord, keepin' the electricity inside so the signal doesn't leak or slow down. Finally, the signal reaches the AXON TERMINAL.
