What is mitochondria?

Check out this powerhouse—the mitochondria is basically the battery pack that keeps your cells runnin'! It all starts with the OUTER MEMBRANE, which acts like a security gate, decidin' exactly which molecules are allowed to enter the factory. Just inside is the INNER MEMBRANE; this is a much tougher barrier that only lets specific proteins through to keep the internal chemistry perfect. Deep in the center is the MATRIX, a thick fluid where all the chemical reactions start breakin' down nutrients. Notice how that inner wall is all wiggly?
