Why do we get hiccups?

Ever wonder why your body makes that funny *HIC* sound? It usually starts way down in your Tummy when you're gobblin' up your favorite snacks way too fast! Your tummy gets a little too full and starts ticklin' its neighbors. That tickle makes your Breathing Muscle—which usually moves nice and slow—suddenly *BOUNCE* and pull down like a stretchy spring! When that happens, a big GULP of air rushes into your Breathe Tube super fast, like a race car zoomin' by! But wait! Your Voice Box gets surprised by all that fast air and SNAPS its little door shut! *HIC!* That 'hic' is just the sound of that tiny door slammin' because it wasn't ready for the air. Isn't that silly? Tiny Concepts.
